Revelation 19-20


Having read earlier chapters about plagues, God’s wrath, and judgment, the last thing I expected to read in Chapter 19 was “Hallelujah!”…but there it was, not once but four times in six verses. Hallelujah is Hebrew for “Praise the Lord” and I’m told this is the only place it’s found in the New Testament.

After this celebration about the end of the city of Babylon (“the great prostitute who corrupted the earth”), events we’ve all heard about are the next topics:  the wedding of the Lamb, the defeat and judgment of Satan, and the great white throne judgment.

People with a lot more education than I’ll ever have, disagree over the meanings of what’s contained in Revelation. I suggest that it’s not important for us to understand the details. I agree with my Study Bible that Revelation encourages us to “stand firm against persecution and compromise in light of the imminent return of Christ to deliver the righteous and judge the wicked.”  

“Amen, Hallelujah!”

John 7-8

And the dispute continues about who this man Jesus is. They had witnessed Jesus speaking with unexplainable wisdom and performing miraculous healings. Yet some still thought he was demon-possessed, a blasphemer, or a suicidal nutcase. Verse 5 of chapter 7 tells us that even his own brothers didn’t believe in him. We shouldn’t be surprised then that it may be even harder for people today to believe that Jesus is God’s Son.    If you have settled the question of who Jesus is, and have accepted him as your Lord and Savior, it’s more important now than ever that you walk the walk, not just talk the Christian talk.  It’s true that you “may be the only Bible some person ever reads.” Let’s be the salt and light that our evil society needs. ~Elsie Shepherd

Matthew 23-24

Have you ever asked yourself the question…I wonder when Jesus will return? No matter where you fall in your view of End Times, there is going to be a day when Jesus comes back. When will it be? Today, tomorrow, next week or 50 years from now, we do not know. What we do know is that man is not able to predict the exact time that it will happen. The question that we should be asking is do we believe that Jesus is coming back? If the answer is yes, then the follow-up is “am I truly living like it could be today?” Because if we do, it changes the way we live our lives. Matthew 24:44  (ESV) Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Are you ready?
