2 Timothy
2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one
approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Do you recognize that verse? If you do, you probably attended
or volunteered at an AWANA program. That is their theme verse.
I want to focus on the last 5 words today. “Rightly handling
the word of truth”
Do you usually read your Bible? What does that look like? What
does it mean to “rightly handle” something? It means that we know the Bible, we
understand the Bible. It means that we study the Word.
Psalm 1:1-2 says,
Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
Do you meditate on the word? God has blessed us greatly in giving
us his word. It guides us, encourages us and challenges us. Praise God for His
word. May we handle it correctly.
